“Beauty fades, and at the end of the day… It’s better to embrace who we are” – Introducing: Beauty Is Betrayal

Beauty Is Betrayal is born and raged in Sacramento, CA. Formed back in 2015 by frontwoman Bri Cowgill, alongside Burn Halo’s very own guitar playerRyan Frost. The powerful duo bonded over dark humor, the love of weird things, and of course, inner anger. Beauty is armed with talented hard-working members including Burn Halo’s former drummer Johnny BadbonesguitaristAlex Lovato; and bassistJaden DanielsBeauty’s sound includes hauntingly evil guitar riffsfast heavy drums, and a unique blend of Cowgill’s and Frost’s powerful vocals take you on a twisted journey.

The band has gone on to support national bands including: Escape The FateMotionless In WhiteAfter The BurialNew Years DayOh, SleeperBurn HaloHED P.E., and many more. Beauty is fearless and dramatic when it comes to their live performance. They demand attention with not only their music, but their theatrics showcasing bloody suits and masks, intense high energy, and comedic crowd interactions. “Music is designed to bring people together. When you see a live show, everyone is in that room for the same reason: we can each be and feel all the things we want without consequence. At that moment we are free & unified, that is the biggest takeaway” – Cowgill expressed. Check out our exclusive interview with her!

Beginnings:

I found all the guys on Tinder. (laughs) Just kidding. Beauty started as a small idea in a stuffy recording room. Ryan is probably the best musician I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. Through much trial & error Beauty blossomed into what it is now.

Behind the name:

Without going too deep… Beauty fades, and at the end of the day… It’s better to embrace who we are, rather than who we think we should be according to the world’s standards.

Teamwork:

Ryan writes most of the music beds to start with, then Ryan & I work on the lyrics and vocal melodies, and then everyone puts their extended input in to finish the song. Whether Alex comes up with a chaotic lead that helps build tension, Jaden writes a more grooving twist to the bass line, or johnny puts his twist and more knowledgeable flare on the beats. In the end, everyone needs to do their part.

Inspiration behind D.A.R.E.:

When writing D.A.R.E. we wanted a song to welcome our listeners to our crazy family. We are planning to have more releases as soon as we can get them out.

COVID-19:

We haven’t stopped our process during this time. We’ve remained constant with our plans to push forward. The only thing that truly stings is not playing live shows. We miss it so much, and can’t wait to get back out there.

Online concerts:

We’re always open to shows. Virtual or in person. We don’t have anything lined up at the moment.

Fun facts:

Alex has the weirdest toes, at this point I’m convinced he is half hobbit. If you rub Ryan’s beard he’ll tell you your future.
