Blitz Union is a new visionary music project and creative force that combines infectious EDM elements with electrifying Rock and Roll. Blitz Union’s message is poignant – as their lyrics highlight alarming issues that humanity faces in today’s uncertain world along with a sense of urgency, whilst providing hope and inspiration. Blitz Union features a creative power force that consists of Mark Blitz, Schtorm, Governor, and Shodushi and collectively they aim to recruit fans worldwide, empowering their message, creating positive social change, and furthering their call to action.
The band’s latest EP was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles, forging a truly unique and global sound, however, Blitz Union doesn’t just create music — they create an experience, a movement, and a natural union. Together this Union shares a common message and belief, which is found in their indelible creed of “Spirit. Vision. Power. Desire. Action.” Read our discussion below with the band’s frontman, Marek!
Beginnings:
It was sometime in 2017 when due to unusual events that happened to me in my life, I knew what I had to do. I like to say that it wasn’t like “I want to start a band”, but more like “I must start a band”. I needed some kind of ‘mediator’ through which I could share my stories, visions and since I love music my whole life, starting a new band was a clear choice. Unfortunately, that’s all that I can tell you for now. We’ll be revealing some more details of the overall Blitz Union story continuously throughout the year. So if you check our social media regularly and carefully, you’ll soon get some answers…
Behind the name:
The second part of the name ‘Union’ speaks for itself. Besides doing music — we are trying to create an experience, a movement, and a natural union. A group of like-minded people who care about the whole, who care about life in general, and do not focus exclusively on their personal profit.
The first part of the name ‘Blitz’ – I am sorry, but the origin of ‘Blitz’ is again directly connected to the whole story which, as mentioned in my first answer, the Union is not ready to share yet…
Inspiration:
We were all raised on the rock, metal bands which have been popular around the year 2000, so, for example, Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Mudvayne, Limp Bizkit, Rammstein, Static-X, etc. The influence of these bands is undeniably audible in our music. Heavily distorted guitars and a deep, rock bass. But we also dig the new electronic, dance & trap wave from where we try to absorb and later implement its typical sounds to our music as well. We found ourselves in this combination and making such music became very natural for us.
Our hometown Prague, a city of great history and culture has always been an inspiration for us whether we want it or not.
But the main source of our inspiration comes to us in sort of “waves”. Unfortunately, that’s again all that I can tell you now. But what we learned is that the more we try to force it, the smaller chance is that these impulses come. Anyway, we continuously work on new songs and we have this hope that we would release a debut, full-length album this year already. Since it seems that not many live shows will be held this year, we want to provide our fans, our Union with as much new music as possible.
Teamwork:
I think teamwork works very well in our Union. Every member has some specific tasks to do and so far this ‘work distribution’ works just great. Also the overall guidance of our label ‘Dreamstart Music & Management’ is very fruitful for our Union. Concerning the songwriting process – I usually bring some topic, lyric ideas with a very simple instrumental. If everybody feels it the same, the music is then composed together by our common ‘alchemy’.
COVID-19:
We took the advantage of the extra time and ran our own „Blitz Studio“ where we spend most of our time focusing on the creation of new music. Obviously, it really sucks that we cannot perform live, but it is how it is so we try to come up with some alternatives how to entertain our fans, our Union.
Online concerts:
Well, we’ve been discussing it lately, but we haven’t come up with an interesting concept yet. We agreed that we definitely do not want to do it in our rehearsal room. Another problem is that it is almost impossible to book some clubs and put some teams together due to Corona restrictions which are pretty strict in Czech Republic right now. So we will see… Anyway, it is not our main priority right now.
As my parting words, I would like to say that those who are not afraid to ask themselves unpleasant questions and who have the courage to face their personal but also external problems – are more than welcome in our Union and can contact us directly at any time and contribute their knowledge and experience.
