WildHeart is a hard rock/glam metal band from Belgium. The band was formed in 2014, they released their first album in 2016 & in the next year, they signed a licensing deal with the German label City of Lights Records. And the time has come: the guitarist, Juice and the bassist, Stevie Dee answered our questions.
“We all had our own musical projects such as IC/TC, Warckon, Rosevally Rebels, but then decided to do something we’ve always loved so much. Playing 80s hard rock music” – stated Stevie then Juice added: “It began in 2014. Stuff was all fun and giggles as planned, but then it seemed to really speak to people. So we started to take it a little more serious. And now here we are. Pretty funny how things go sometimes.

We derive our inspiration from the earlier eighties hard rock bands: Whitesnake, Ratt, Motley Crue, Van Halen, Dokken…etc. If we’re obliged to pick a favorite, it would be Whitesnake. Music-wise that’s totally up our alley. They’re a little more riff-oriented than the others.
Also, Whitesnake would be one of the wiser choices to want to play with by now, all the others don’t exist anymore or have evolved away from their original line-up and sound.”
Stevie also shared some behind the scenes stories about the songwriting process. “It usually starts with someone having an idea or guitar riff. We play around with it during rehearsals until we have the basics of a good song. When the instrumentals are done, Farty will write the lyrics for it. So we really work together as a band when we write our songs.”
Juice: “Most shows in the upcoming month are right here in the Belgian region. In the fall we’re going back to Germany and there are some nice plans for 2020 on the table as we speak. But that’s still classified information. (smiles)”
Stevie: “We released the physical copy of ‘No Love’ at our own festival ‘Wildfest’ on May 25th. So it’s out there! We are getting the digital platforms ready as we speak. So by the time this interview is out, you’ll be able to find it on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play and Deezer. “
It’s not enough if a musician is talented, the most important thing is to work effectively as part of a team. “We seem to connect very well in a way” – Juice added. “Almost every musician has a different background which results in a very wide canvas. We’re not in each other’s way, so to speak. It’s very complimentary, which is an extremely fortunate work environment. Hopefully, it stays that way, haha!”
And what do they miss the most from the eighties? “The women of course!” – Stevie stated. “Besides the former, just the overall vibes from back then. Being able to see all those great bands live, hearing them on the radio all the time, just being a part of the scene sounds like heaven! Maybe we would’ve made it already back then. (smiles)”
